I believe words are not enough to portrait what we truly feel. We live our lives in moments. Even before you knew words we wanted to share how we felt. What if we could show those moments in our own way?
What I’ve found is the video format allows you to create a version of the world that you can take with you and show it.
"Animation can explain whatever the mind of man can conceive. This facility makes it the most versatile and explicit means of communication yet devised for quick mass appreciation”
- Walt Disney
In this blog, I’ll explore animation, film and the overall creative process.
This blog is for everyone in a creative field or that enjoys creating . I’ll talk about the process, storyboard and the idea until final product. Whether you're interested in photography, drawing, painting, or even writing, there are some processes that are universal.
I would love to make this blog more challenge-oriented. Over the next few weeks, I want to challenge myself to create something and document it. I can create frame-by-frame animations, motion graphics loops, experiment with new sorts of animations, and even storyboard. The sky is the limit.
And I’ll take you with me throughout the process. In this post I’ll talk about things that happened in the past that led me to this point and how it impacts current projects.
Let me begin by giving you an overview of what animation entails. Animation by definition is the rapid display of a sequence of images that create an illusion of movement. It is an optical illusion of motion due to the phenomenon of persistence of vision, and can be created and demonstrated in a number of ways.
A brief story on how I stepped into the animation world.
Since very young age I got into the world of design. I enjoyed attempting to make things appear aesthetically pleasing. I had no idea what I was doing at the time, no understanding of colour theory or basic design principles.
I know that at some point I became dissatisfied with the static design and desired something more alive, something with movement.
I found the idea of bringing life to static experiences exhilarated me. I discovered that everything in motion is a story in itself.
Every time I was dissatisfied with my work and had to accept it, I told myself to do better, draw faster, think simpler, work cleaner, and be more strategic.
When I'm at my most productive, I go through the day intently absorbing everything that happens around me. We talk a lot about "inspiration", but it's important to remember that being inspired isn't a passive experience. It takes practice and intention.
It's the same with animation; practice and patience are essential.
Animation vs Motion Graphics
There’s a fine line that divides both of them. I find it important to distinguish them because of my ambitions. Motion Graphics is where I started and animation is where I want to be.
The term "motion graphics" refers to graphics that move. Shapes, typography, composition, and other design elements can be found in Motion Graphics. You can think of it as a way to add movement to a static visual design work.
Animation can include more. It can englobe Motion Graphics itself, but also other techniques and purposes.
I believe that animation has a far broader meaning than simply advertising a product or service. For me, animation is capable of conveying deeper messages and eliciting emotions in ways that no other medium can.
State of the Art
If you're looking for blogs about animation and motion graphics, here's a list of some of the ones I found.
Even if you don't want to pursue animation, I believe you should check it out to see amazing work created by animators and designers all over the world.
The goal of Motiongrapher is to be a source of inspiration. They showcase influential studios and professionals and share inspiring work. They provide commentary, quotes, and author interviews.

Aside from being the animation industry's news magazine, it is also a comprehensive resource for animators looking to study or work.
What will I do differently?
This blog will be less concerned with technical details and more focused with the creative process itself. It will be a weekly animation challenge blog where I share my thoughts and ambitions with you.
Thank you so much for reading. Hope to see you in the next post!
