Hey everyone! Welcome back. If you're new here, I'm Catarina and I'm currently doing a Monday's challenge every week.

As always, to see my past animations check out my Instagram or Behance.

Week of 21/11 to 29/11
This week’s animation had to be about “In The Kitchen”.

Cooking has always been a passion of mine. Cooking can be messy, frustrating, and even boring for most people. Might be an unpopular opinion but I think cooking is very relaxing.

Since the get go I wanted to do something dynamic, colourful, fun and messy in a unique way.

I wanted to demonstrate that even when things get chaotic, they can still have beauty, order, and flavour.

Tuesday

Storyboard & Brainstorm

With the help of my cat, I started designing my ingredients and utensils.

I did whatever came to mind at the time, from the pan to mushrooms, carrots, and shrimp.

Thursday

Animating

I only used Illustrator and After Effects for this animation. I attempted to create the illusion of a spiral, which would then transition into a frying pan where the ingredients would be tossed. Then I made a loop out of it.

The idea of a spiral appealed to me because it reminds me of the process of selecting ingredients. You should consider the sequence, quantity, and possible combinations.

“Cooking is like painting or writing a song. Just as there are only so many notes or colors, there are only so many flavors—it’s how you combine them that sets you apart.”– Wolfgang Puck

Final Thoughts

I think it was one of the animations that was easier to accomplish, even though it's simple, nothing special I really enjoyed making it!

On a final note, as always, check out what other animators and designers did at @mondayschallenge.

Let me know in the comments what's your favourite animation for this week's theme.

Stay tuned & Thank you for reading!
